Welcome to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church! - Early Childhood Education Center
Our School Mission:
Serving God’s children by providing quality education and care appropriate to their developmental needs in a loving and nurturing Christian environment.
The Good Shepherd Early Childhood Education Center...
...is a program energized by Christ’s love for all people to serve preschool children in an atmosphere that is a loving, supportive, and nurturing place to foster and encourage social, emotional, and intellectual development at a formative stage in children’s lives. Through God’s Word, children build an early spiritual foundation, self-esteem and confidence.
We give children a solid start toward their educational careers in an environment that will hold at its center Christian faith and values and celebrate the baptismal vocation of each child of
We assist parents by providing a safe and loving environment in which to leave their children.
We welcome all children regardless of faith, race, or national origin.

The Creative Curriculum by Diane Trister Dodge is the curriculum we use to help us integrate the center-based classroom and the teacher’s role in this environment. It is developmentally based, focusing on the individual child’s social, emotional and intellectual needs. The research of this curriculum is based on the National Association for the Education of Young Children, NAEYC. We also use supplemental curriculums that are Christian based as well as Doors to Discovery which is a literacy rich curriculum geared for four year olds preparing for Kindergarten .
Our professional staff encourages exploration and growth in a well-equipped environment that is stimulating, safe, consistent and nurturing. We strive to enhance each child’s natural curiosity and love of learning. Good Shepherd ECEC provides opportunities for a child to master tasks that are appropriate to his individual level of development.
We are committed to working closely with parents toward the welfare of the whole family. Parents are welcome to visit the school at any time both prior to enrolling their child and during the child’s time at school, always keeping in mind class continuity .
Chapel
Where the Church is involved in early childhood education, the spiritual formation of children is a primary focus. Chapel is intended as a weekly time to remember, celebrate, and strengthen the relationship with God into which children are baptized. The pastor of Good Shepherd Church leads chapel every Wednesday morning with the students and staff of the center. Chapel time lasts 10 to 15 minutes and includes a theme and bible story tied to the bible verse of the week , season of the church year, and its colors, traditions, and symbols; a story or object lesson; songs; and the Lord’s Prayer and another prayer. Above all, chapel is a time to celebrate the love of Jesus our Lord for all of God’s children and connect that love to the rest of our week.
Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)
The Parent Advisory Committee PAC , is comprised of parents and staff dedicated to enhance and enrich the children cognitively, socially, and spiritually through educational experiences at Good Shepherd ECEC. The committee also will help with fundraising for the school for special needs and enhancements to the school. PAC meets the second Tuesday of each month at 5:00 P.M. All parents are welcome to participate. Certain decisions pertaining to school policy , remain in the hands of the ECEC Board. A newsletter will be distributed monthly telling of upcoming events and news about each class.
