Out of faith flows service and giving of oneself to others, following the example of our Lord Jesus Christ. Opportunities to serve others abound at Good Shepherd, from tithing thankfully from the blessings that God gives us to singing in the choir and assisting the poor and needy in our neighborhood and community. Members are encouraged to participate with such partner organizations as Faith Cafe, Metropolitan Ministries of Tampa, and Lutheran World Relief by volunteering time, providing food, soap, clothing and preparing health kits that are shared nearby and around the world.
Serving those in need since 2001! The primary goal at Faith Café is to feed the hungry. Monday through Saturday, they offer guests a comfortable, safe environment to come and enjoy a meal.
Meals are prepared at the new Faith Cafe building which is located at 1340 North Clearview Avenue, Tampa Florida, 33607. Lunch is served between 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM Monday – Saturday. For more information about Faith Café and volunteering to help, please visit: www.faithcafetampa.com
When individuals and families need help, they turn to Metropolitan Ministries. Here they find compassion, hope, and answers to their specific situations. Metropolitan Ministries provides faithful answers for poor and homeless families living in our community through services that alleviate suffering, promote dignity, and instill self-sufficiency… as an expression of the ongoing ministry of Jesus Christ. The Ministries, a faith-based and community-supported non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, is funded through the charitable support of the community, including individuals, businesses, congregations, schools, foundations and civic groups. Lutheran World Relief
LWR development projects focus on issues at the root causes of poverty. These debilitating causes tend to domino into more and more problems that trap people in poverty.
By the same token, attacking just one of these issues can help break the cycle, making people’s lives better and freeing them from suffering in many ways. To learn more, please visit: www.lwr.org
